We have one of the Premier Herds of Quality Miniature Donkeys in Europe with most of our Jennet's being Championship show winners or Champions, including the more coverted DBS Titles, Royal Highland, Royal Lancs etc.

We breed specifically for Perfect temperaments, movement and freedom from hereditary defects, feeling strongly that we cannot compromise these important traits.

Seeing is believing so why not arrange to visit and see for yourselves!

Ann with some of the jennets in the big barn.  Photo taken by Rhetta McAlister of Country Music's Donkeys.

Many Breeders have  fairly nice Jacks but with very average Jennets.

The Jennet should be important I actually believe even more so than a show winning Jack.  Our Jennets are Extra special and have been very carefully, individually selected over many years for their Outstanding Conformation.   The old saying, "it costs as much to keep a good one as a bad one" is very true!

Enjoy browsing this page and compare our Girls to other breeders jennets.

Better still call and arrange to see them in person, you will be pleased you did!

Arranbrook practices a sound breeding philosophy.

We take great pride in the variety of our herd’s pedigrees.

Arranbrook's Own code of ethics

* We do not and never have inbred our Donkeys.

* We have decided to adhere to the advice from The Donkey Breed Society , who consulted numerous veterinary surgeons on the correct age to breed Jennet's and no longer breed our own Jennets before their 4th year.  Their welfare is of paramount importance to us.

*  We do not wean our foals before the age of 6 months unless there is a medical reason to do so.

*  We NEVER breed our Jennets on foal heat and find the practise totally uncalled for.  Usually we breed after the last foal is fully weaned unless the Jennet of being rested.

*  ALL visiting Jennet's will have be swabbed by own vet before arriving at the Stud.

*  No Jennet's under their third year will be bred and we do not accommodate with foal at foot.  NFFR is offered.

Johnny Paycheck Jenny foal

Below Big Woods 24 Karat and Johnny Paycheck foal

All our jennets range from 30 in  - 34in max.

I strongly feel it derogatory to have very small Miniature Donkeys as their conformation is often much poorer and may indicate signs of dwarfism, short stumpy legs with larger heads to be avoided.

I much prefer the middle height range in my jennets to avoid birthing problems, as I write this I hear of yet another 30in jenny, both her and her baby were sadly lost!

I compliment my girls with smaller jacks where possible but always jacks of Top Quality with good temprements.

As with our Herd sire's, all our jennets are fully Registered.   My Jennet's are consistent in Type and Quality, you will not find this consistency anywhere else in this Country.

Arranbrook Donkeys are Stocky and Compact with Beautiful heads, Fabulous well  Rounded Hips, short coupled and very Correct Conformation.

We Breed for Quality with good Temperaments.

Each breeding is a chance to improve on the next generation.  Our foals Confirm that we have made the right selection and pairing in our Breeding Stock.

Show and breeding Quality being one and the same here at Arranbrook.

The foundation bloodlines our jennets carry are

Circle C's  Corona,  Red Lightening,  Little Motown,  Obsession.

H C M  Moulon Rouge

USA First prize winner

Reserve Champion UK

Photo above after winning Reserve Show Champion at our local show 3 days after arriving from Texas

  Height 32in    Red

  Foaled 12 / 9 / 2005

Registered ADMS     Donkey Breed Society Reg.

Sire:  LN Red Glo   31.5in Dark Red         By the late Top producing jack LN Red Sonfire

 Dam:  LN Cranberry   32.5in Sorrel

Bred on the Famous Lazy Nissan Ranch.   I was extremely pleased when Angela Preston of Hill Country Miniatures in Texas offered me this beautiful jennet.

She is fondly known as The Princess, (and answers to it), as she was so aloof when she arrived, nowadays she has her reversing up to us for butt scratches to a Tee!!!

Now she has arrived I am delighted as she, along with our own Top Producing Big Woods 24 Karat, is probably one of the best Red jennets currently residing in the UK.

Her Conformation is second to none, topped off by a small neat head with a pleasing eye.

Many Thanks Angela!!

NEWS FLASH!!!

Moulon's first show 3 days after arriving from Texas!

Moulon gains:    First Best Condition & Turnout class

First Yearling, Two and Three year old class

                                       Reserve Champion Donkey!

Originally bred at the well known Lazy Nissan Ranch, then purchased from the GAMD sale in 2006.   Moulon Rouge, by the chestnut herd sire, Red Glo, is that rich red color in appearance as well as genetically.

Both sides of her family lineage trace back to the old import donkeys & with many Halter Champions and Champion producers clear back thru the great grandparents.

Combining all that, along with a very stylish and appealing look,  Moulon Rouge is an exceptionally special jennet in all aspects.  Moulon's maternal half sister, Rosehips, was 2002 NE State Fair Reserve Champion.

Cranberry (Moulon's dam) is a full sister to Barb Grubb's Redsonne  a 'done it all' show jack.

Both Cranberry and Red Glo now reside at Ponderosa Donkey Farm

Many thanks to Angel and Ed Preston for offering me this

lovely jennet and allowing her to come to England.

Dancie  has exceptional Conformation, huge chest, great hip and pretty head.  She moves beautifully and has to be seen to be appreciated as her photos just do her no justice!

I feel she could do very well in the Show Ring in England and for this reason she will not be bred for a while.

Maybe the above was an understatement!!!!

34in Grey Dun with sorrel highlights

  Foaled: 4/6/2003

Reg: Canadian Donkey and Mule Association & the MMDA

 Sire:  LCR Valentino 75th.  Sorrel

 Dam:  Perfection's Lady Macbeth.  Grey

For me  Early Frost epitomises just what a Miniature Donkey should look like,  a Standard Donkey in Miniature!

She is a Beautiful, very correct jennet with a neat small head, large eye, deep, wide chest and fantastic hip.

We spotted her in Frank  O'Sullivan's Herd whilst visiting in summer 2007.   She reminded us so much of  Country Music's Wynonna Judd,  The 2004  NMDA National Champion!!

Her Sire the sorrel LCR Valentino 75th passed away at a young age so very few of this bloodline around!

Frosty foaled a beautiful jenny Arranbrook Bridget Jones  in March 2008 .  Bridget is now in a show home in Surrey.

July 2009 Frosty foaled a stunning tiny ( 18.5 in at 2 days) jack foal Arranbrook Storminateacup, future Herd sire, by Country Music's Johnny Paycheck.

I  hope to start Frosty's show career 2010.

I would like to Thank Red Oak Stud in Ireland for the chance to purchase this Beautiful jennet.

Wolfheart's  Chica

Multiple USA Champion Jennet & Best of Breed winner

Reserve Champion winner RHS

33in Grey

Foaled 12/4/2004.

Reg: ADMS.  MMDA.  The Donkey Breed Society.

Sire:  F L Tumbleweed.  30in.  Brown.   NMDA Champion jack.

Dam: Country Music's Kitty Wells.  32.75in.  Grey Dun.

Cheeky Chica, as she is known at home, is a multiple NMDA winning Jennet & Model Donkey  Championship winner.

Chica share's the same Dam, Country Music's Kitty Wells, as the Top winning  2004 NMDA National Champion    Country Music's Wynona Judd

produced and shown by Joyce Berg Hansen of Wolfheart Ranch, Missouri.

Chica's  Sire FL Tumbleweed, has competed and placed at Shelbyville 2002 and The Texas State Fair in 2002, The South Carolina State Fair in 2002, Cheers for Ears in 2003 and Shelbyville 2003.   Tumbleweed won NMDA 3 & 4 year old Jacks at Halter at Cheers for Ears in 2004

Tumbleweed is an  NMDA Reserve Champion Jack.

He  was  retired from the show ring in 2005.

Although Chica has not enjoyed being shown in England due to the dreadful wet season of 2007, she did manage to bring home some silverware and was also Reserve Champion Female at the Royal Highland show!

Chica will be bred to KiTerra's Outlaw spring 2010.

Boothby Anthem

DBS Yearling Champion with multiple Reserve Championship wins

Re measured 28th Jan 2010     Just under   31.  1/2in       Grey Dun.

  Foaled 17/7/2002

Reg: MMDA  Stud Book Registered.         The Donkey Breed Society.

Sire:  Circle C Copyright.  32 .4in.  Brown.    Sire:  Circle C  Red Lightening.  Sorrel.

Dam:  Perfection's Angel Face.  30.3/4in.  Grey Dun.

Annie will always be special to us being our very first Miniature Donkey.  Did she do us well during her first season in the show ring she gained Reserve Champion Jennet at the Royal Highland show, then DBS Champion Yearling at Braco Donkey show.

During her second year she was also reserve Champion Miniature Donkey at Peterborough show.

Annie will even shake "hands" on command for a mint!!!

As a brood jennet her first foal, a jenny by Itsy Bitsy Tomcat, which was Exported to Holland.

Annie foaled a beautiful grey / brown jenny foal June 2008 now living in Ireland.

She is now in foal to our own Arranbrook Bobby Dazzler for a 2010 foal then due for a well earned rest!

Star Sapphire Liza Shortcake

Canadian Champion & Reserve DBS Inhand Champion winner

 33. 1/4in.  Grey Dun.

 Foaled: 26/9/1996.

Registered: ADMS            The Donkey Breed Society.       The MMDA Stud Book.

Sire:  Missions Montana Red Hot Ass.  Sorrel.

Dam: Lazy C Philamena 84.  31in. Brown

Shorty is originally from the USA but was purchased and imported via Canada.

She is the oldest of our Donkeys, a beautiful jennet, over the years I have seen three of her offspring which I really liked and would have had either of the daughters I saw which included deep dark red so I am delighted to now own her.

Shorty has  a lovely head and eye along with the large hip that I love to see on a Donkey.

I long puzzled that she looked so much like my Early Frost (above) until I realised Frosty's Sire,  LCR Valantino 75th was also Shorty's Grand Sire!

She has won well too, being a DBS Reserve Champion jennet as well as a Candian Champion previously!

Shorty foaled a light sorrel jack, Arranbrook Sweet William, by  Circle C Copyright in 2008.

Shorty excelled this year and produced a Beautiful, correct jack foal Arranbrook Craftsman who is by Country Music's Johnny Paycheck.

Foaled 4/3/2004.

Reg: ADMS & Miniature Mediterranean Donkey Association.   The Donkey Breed Society.

Sire:  Circle C Corona.   Sorrel.                  Sire:  Circle C Red Lightening.     Sorrel.

Dam: Sunset Acres Firegirl.   Grey Dun.

Kay won her class at her first ever English show 3 years after arriving from America.

Honley show where she won the Mare's class.

As she is in foal she was not shown again.

Our beautiful jennet, Kay, has the look of her super Sire Circle C Corona, pictured below and is very like his Dam, Diamond Flush, see the well known Benson Ranch web site.  This lineage is apparent in Kay's foals as she is our Top producing Jenny, we hope one day she will give us a daughter to retain!

In 2004 Circle C Corona won NMDA "Get of Sire".
This is a very prestigious award earned by a herd sire based solely on the quality of his offspring. It is the highest honour a herd sire can achieve.

Kay is my Top Producing mare so far and was originally imported by me from South Carolina in foal to FL Tumbleweed,  Senior Herd Sire Wolfheart Ranch.

Kay was originally purchased as a show jennet for Rock N Roll ranch in Tennessee and she did well as a young jennet.   Sadly, only due to a bereavement was she sold on.

Kay has a small neat head and a super huge round hind quarter.  Her first foal, Arranbrook Bobby Dazzler, is our  Herd sire.

September 2008  Kay foaled a Stunning Dark jack foal to Country Music's Johnny Paycheck .

*Due to foal March 2010 by Country Music's Johnny Paycheck then she will be rested*

Country Music's Dixie Nolan

Multiple First prize winner

 33in. Dark Brown.

  Foaled 17/5/2004.

Reg:  ADMS.      MMDA Stud Book Registered.      The Donkey Breed Society.

Sire: Country Music's Garth Brooks.   30in. Brown

 Dam: Agapeland Leah.  Dark Brown.

Dixie is a stunning  jennet, with the most beautiful eye you will see on a Donkey.   Her photos never do her justice.  I bought her direct off the Famous Country Music's ranch in Texas along with my Senior Herd Sire CM's Johnny Paycheck in 2004 when both were only a few weeks old.

Dixie has a nice rounded hip, beautiful head, great deep chest and is of course a very correct Donkey.  I have yet to see another Country Music's Jenny as nice as her and I have seen plenty!!

Dixie Doughnut as she is affectionately known is the joker in the herd and if anyone can spot  an open gate or golden opportunity to get into mischief,  then it is always going to be Dixie.  She has her own agenda and will probably not be shown again as she does have her own ideas!!!!!                                                                 However she has proved to be a Fantastic Brood Jenny!

Dixie's first foal, below, Arranbrook Sheer Elegance.  This beautiful tiny jenny is now in Ireland.

Dixie produced another stunning jenny foal January, photo below in 2010

Arranbrook Be Dazzled  by Arranbrook Bobby Dazzler

Many thanks to Rhetta & Jim McAlister for sending me Dixie and Johnny Paycheck.

Capstone Katie Price

  33 in Brown

 Foaled 14/2/2004

Reg:    The Donkey Breed  Society.   MMDA Stud Book.

Sire:   WH Bugle Boy.    Brown 31in.

Dam:  Capstone Nellie.  Brown 34. 4in.

Katie is a sweet natured light brown jennet, with correct conformation and a great round hip.   Katie is so gentle that I believe she would hate the show ring and for that reason alone will not show her, however her lineage is Champion producing.

I saw her full sister and some of her offspring during my visits to Wolfheart Ranch in the USA.  I was very impressed with these Donkeys, especially when I saw Capstone Blue Moon June at such a tender age.  A week later she won NMDA Champion Jennet and Best of Breed Reserve Champion 2006.

Katie was purchased for me by Joyce DIRECT from the Capstone Ranch in Texas.

She is without doubt easily the best of the Bugle Boy line residing here  in the UK.

Bugle Boy is now almost in his 20's  and most of the Capstone Donkeys have been sold or relocated to France where  Theresa and Kerry now live concentrating on their Poitou Donkeys.

Katie's first foal was a lovely Quality brown jack by Country Music's Johnny Paycheck.

Katie's second foal is full brother to last years and probably even better!  See our 2009 Foals Page for more!

Dam:  Cedar Creek Peggerty.       Light Red.  31.75in.

All our visitor's love Torch.

WOW!!!     Torch is an awesome show stopping colour and is proving to be everything we hoped for!

Her dark red colour is still really unusual to see in the UK besides her wonderful conformation.

Torchy's pedigree contains many well known Donkeys who have made considerable contributions to the breed, many having only short pedigree's themselves!

Behind her are such names as Circle C Red Lightening, Little Motown,  L N Nicolodeon and Foxworthy.

She has only been lightly shown in 2009 and will be on our showstring in 2010.

Update May 10th.

First show of the 2009 season  Newark & Notts County  Show (A list show) at her second ever show and a tender 21 months old, our Beautiful Yearling Filly HCM Torch gains:

 1st Yearling,     Best Novice,

Reserve Inhand Show Champion Donkey.              Best Opposite Sex in show.

**This Qualified Torch for the DBS Supreme Show in August along with her previously Qualified stable mate LBT Gambler's Dancie**

NB: Due to the loss of Johnny Paycheck neither Torch or Dancie took their places as Qualifiers at the DBS Supreme show 2009

Many thanks to Angela and Ed Preston for allowing me to purchase Torch.

I am sure she will do them proud in the show ring and will grace the ring  again this season

Country Music's Kelly Willis

Half sister to Champion Country Music's Johnny Paycheck

Photo October 2009

Height; Immature

 Foaled 13 / 12 / 2007

 Registered ADMS   / DBS Reg

Sire:   Country Music's George Jones.  30in    Dark Brown

Dam:   Someday's  Cinderella.   30in     Light Brown

Kelly Willis'  Sire George Jones really needs no introduction.   He is an NMDA / ADMS Champion and Sire of 20+ National and World Champions.  It was always my intension to have a Direct George Jones daughter as well as the Garth Brooks  daughter we have had for a number of years.

Kelly's Dam,  Cinderella is from the Famous Arnold Sorenson Ranch going back to the original imports.

Kelly has matured to 29/ 30in's max.  I need to measure her again for accuracy  but she is our smallest Jennet.    I don't expect her to grow much more if at all.

Of  late she has really exceeded my expectations.   I saw a number of other imports from the same Ranch over the last two years and favoured all over Kelly.     However, she has absolutely blossomed this summer and is now going to push our Stunning Country Music's Dixie Nolan (see above) hard for the best CM's Jennet we own!       Patience is a virtue when rearing youngstock!!!!

Kelly has a deep chest, great legs, is shorter coupled and has a very pretty head and eye.   She will make a few show ring appearances sooner or later but only due to the fact I will have a lot of youngsters in the same class for the next few seasons.

Re veterinary inspections

The Association requirement is that members Donkeys are to be inspected by ones own veterinary surgeon.

This inspection CANNOT guarantee that the Donkeys are free from heredity faults as ONLY the progeny produced could possibly confirm this!

While we will have our jacks inspected at three years of age my intention is to have ALL my show Donkeys, over time, DONKEY BREED SOCIETY VETERINARY INSPECTED which at this time is only a yearly event & as and when my Donkeys become old enough.

This is a VERY rigorous, thorough independant Inspection.

However, ALL my Donkeys offered for sale are open to any independent veterinary inspection.
