Boo is a nice chunky /stocky short bodied individual.  A first son for Bobby Dazzler he has his Sire's small, neat, pretty head and amazing amount of bone with super straight legs and plenty of heart room with a great hip.                                                                                                                                                                                                      Obviously he carries the sorrel gene with so much sorrel behind him however some of the best ones are Grey!

His Dam Annie, also grey, was a very good winner for us and is a Donkey Breed Society Champion.  Her last foal went to Ireland

For such a tender age he moves beautifully and has a certain "presence" about him, could do well in the show ring!

Willow is a very nice unusual grey colour Jenny having No Light Pints (NLP's) she is very correct with straight legs, lovely hip with excellent topline and very good depth of chest.  She has a correct bite and a pretty, small head.   She could easily produce plenty of colour.

All in all this is a very nice Jennet and only offered for sale as we have no company for her so she has been staying at Arranbrook stud for Donkey pals!

Willow is now breeding age or alternatively she would make a nice pet.  Home with other Donkeys preferred.

Crafty is a pretty grey colt with plenty of sorrel highlights.  He should sire sorrel in his offspring to the right Mare's as he carries a strong sorrel pedigree from both Sire and Dam.  This is a very nice colt and I am tempted to keep him but with three more Johnny foals set to arrive soon as well as retaining his half brother.

Dam:  Capstone Katie Price.   33. 1/2in Brown

Full sister to Champion producer in USA

Grand Sire:   WH Bugle Boy.    Now 20 years old.   Brown 31in.

Grand Dam:  Capstone Nellie.  Brown 34. 4in.

The Country Music's / Capstone cross is well known in America and has produced many fine Champions and show Quality Donkeys.  While the Capstone Donkeys have relocated to France, Bugle Boy remains in the USA now aged almost 20, so this line is coming to an end.

Katie Price is without doubt about the Best of the Bugle Boy Jennet's this side of the Pond.

The late Johnny Paycheck was one of the Top Miniature Jacks, many people have said the Best so far in Europe, so its by no coincidence that Arranbrook Sterling is of the same Standard.

Sterling has a Fabulously huge hip, good topline, straight strong legs with good bone, beautiful depth of chest, correct bite, along with his Sire's & Grand Sire's Trademark head & eye appeal.

*Johnny Paycheck's Temperament was second to none and he passes this through his offspring*

Sterling is only offered for sale as we have two other Colts, all born the same week and all absolutely gorgeous.  We also have three more Johnny Paycheck foals due March / April.

As the Capstone / Bugle Boy X Country Music's mix works so well I figure that it makes more sense to retain one of the other Colts which will in time will be able to cover Sterling's Dam and carry on this successful cross.                                                                                                                                                                                                   Somehow I have had to narrow my choice down to which to retain but I do think highly of this boy.

If he does not sell soon I will geld him & keep him as my show gelding.

***WE CAN HELP ARRANGE TRANSPORT ANYWHERE***

Breeding Quality Donkeys for others to enjoy is our aim especially show winning stock for others to win with which we have / are achieving including English Champion stock and we enjoy hearing about their adventures.  Quality pets also usually available.

As a rough guide, Jenny foals start at £2500 rising in price with age and Quality.

Older, proven Mare's in the region of £4500 in foal.

Geldings from £1500.

Quality jacks command higher prices with age and experience.

NB: Good Conformation, whatever the colour, age or sex will command highest price's but these are seldom available.

NB:  Isolation, import charges, vet fees & UK taxes for one jack as of September 2009:   =  £1,973

*Does not include purchase price*

Pictured Wolfhearts Doc O Leo aka Lefty a gelding half brother to Johnny Paycheck.

We have long held a view that geldings are not promoted enough in this Country.  It has always been our intension to keep at least one Johnny Paycheck son as our first gelding to show and take to events.

The DBS Supreme show has a Supreme gelding Championship in August at their Supreme show AND geldings can & do win at the highest levels at other Championship shows around the Country,  the MMDA have (at long last) decided to promote geldings with a points Championship award.  So Geldings are well worth showing.

We believe ALL breeders should keep one or two geldings just to prove to others they are actually breeding Quality stock, after all they are not expensive to keep!

*It takes a great jack to make a good gelding*

We do not have any so called "Clearouts" in our Herd, these are Donkeys the owner is not happy with and want to sell in order to purchase better stock.

All the Arranbrook Herd are show Quality with practically all having graced and won in the show ring.

We always honestly describe Donkeys offered for sale and price them according to their differing quality and overall conformation or show, breeding or pets and never just lumping them in as all same price.

Not every female we breed will be of brood mare quality, it is very unrealistic to think they all will be but unlike others I will not sell all females as such and when we have pet quality foals her paperwork will be endorsed as pet quality only and reflected in the price.

Honesty and integrity being our motto.

We usually have Donkeys to offer for sale or can put you in touch with another reputable breeder of Quality stock,

 please contact us for details.

Please note we do not sell a single Donkey to a home without other Donkeys.

If your looking for Quality Donkeys look no further.  ALL ours have correct conformation, wonderful movement and perfect mouths. You will not find anything to beat these on conformation!

Be aware of spurious breeders selling stock which are not good enough to keep, why would you want to purchase those?   Cost's as much to keep a good one as a bad one!

If  I don't have what your looking for we do recommend another breeder with Quality Donkeys who is also honest, reliable

and who's goal is also to improve the Breed in Europe, so do contact us.

Acceptable Registry's for Miniature Mediterranean Donkeys are ANY  of the following:

The Donkey Breed Society, which does have Miniature Donkey Registry,

The American Donkey & Mule Society,

The Canadian Donkey and Mule Society, which does have a STUD Book

                                                                                  MMDA

When looking to purchase it should be important that you should see the Donkey move correctly.  No one would buy a horse / pony without seeing it move out correctly on the basis that a lame horse is undesirable, therefore the same should apply to a Donkey!  I strongly recommend viewing at walk and trot, cow hocks and weak backend's are undesirable, Donkeys must have a good mouth, never overshot or undershot as none of these should not be bred from.

The Donkey should be trained to lead, tie quietly and have their hooves picked out at the very least as one would expect a horse or pony to be.  Despite their small size the Miniature Donkey is really quite a strong animal.

Miniature Donkeys are expensive but anything less than the above requirement's are only of pet quality and not worth the same value as breeding or show stock.  It does not make sense that all Donkeys should be priced individually on their own merit just lumped at one price for whichever sex they happen to be!

NB:  Jacks are not for novices to handle and can be dangerous.  Never purchase an ungelded jack as a pet.

A few important things to look for when purchasing Miniature Donkeys.

Temperament:    The Miniature Donkeys temperament is one of the wonderful things about this lovely breed. Should you come across Herd Sire's which do not display a friendly nature towards humans then look elsewhere as that temperament will come out in his offspring sooner or later.

Mouth /bite:   A miniature Donkey should have a nice even bite, undershot or over shot mouths are undesirable and not breeding stock.

Dwarfism:       Miniature Donkeys are not bred down Standard Donkeys, they are a breed in their own right.  Therefore be wary of Donkeys with large heads and small legs.

The Donkeys overall appearance should be of one in perfect proportion.

Miniature Donkeys

When your day seems out of balance and so many things go wrong, when people fight around you and the day drags on so long.  When parents act like children, and in-laws drive you bonkey, go out in your pasture and wrap your arms around a donkey.

His gentle breath enfolds you and he watches with those eyes.  He may not have a PhD, but he is oh, so wise!  His head rests on your shoulder.  You embrace him oh so tight.  He puts your world in balance, and makes it seem all right.

Your tears will soon stop flowing.  The tension is now eased.  The garbage has been lifted, and you're quiet and at peace.  So when you need the balance from circumstances in your day, the best therapy that you can seek is out there eating hay!!!!
